Blood pressure is created by taking two measurements and usually there are two numbers that will be referred by a physician. For example doctors call 140-90, it means it is 140/90 mmHg. The first number (140) showed upward pressure due to short pulses of the arteries when the heart or heart beats, or beats, and is called the systolic pressure, or pressure is often called upon. The second number (1990) indicate pressures when resting between the pumping heart, and called the diastolic pressure, or often also referred under pressure.
