Fish is food which very beneficial for the body, because many contain omega-3. But to eat fish, fish should not be fried. Because too often eat fried fish could trigger a stroke.
Too often consumed fried fish will lead to a stroke, this is already happening in South America, such as Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, north and South Carolina, and Tennessee. In those regions, deaths from stroke are higher than other countries. In Alabama, the death rate from strokes reach 125 per 100.000 peoples. and the main cause is too often eat fried fish. Research has shown, that omega-3s in fish may reduce the risk of stroke. But in a press release from the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) mentioned, another study showed that the fried fish causes a natural fatty acid (such omega-3), vanish. So it can trigger stroke.
The study was conducted by REGARDS (Reasons for Geographic And Racial Differences in Stroke) led by Dr George Howard, PH from Alabama University at Birmingham. REGARDS studied 21,675 people over the age of 45 years between January2003 to October 2007, and continued to follow participants and observe their health.
The result, 1 in 4 participants who consumed 2 or more non-fried fish per week, has 17% lower stroke risk compared with participants who not eat fish at all. Meanwhile, participants who consumed 2 or more fried fish, has 30% higher stroke risk compared with participants who not.
“The differences in portions and fish processing could be one possible reason for the racial and geographic differences in stroke incidence and mortality,” said Faid Nahab, MB from Emory University. Research which supported by National Institute of Neurogical Disorders and Stroke, National Institutes of Health and Department of Health and Human Services has been published in the AAN online health journal, 22 december 2010.
