Several studies have proved music can relieve stress and even pain. Now researchers want to prove just how large the benefits of music in the healing process. Research was conducted to prove the theory that says music can enhancetolerance to pain. In addition, the music is believed to enhance immune, thus reducing the need of drug consumption. No fewer than 120 patients at Barts and The London NHS Trust in London will be involved in this study. The participants will listen to certain music before and after surgery. This research was funded by The Public Engagement Foundation. Researchers will monitor the level of anxiety, blood pressure and heart rate of patients, then compared with the group of patients who do not listen to music.
