A mole or beauty spot which appears on the skin can make you look more sweet or cute. Not only that, if you have many moles on your body, It signifies that you have good bone density. Researchers from Kings College London, found, having many moles not only make you look younger, but also indicate the density of your bones are good. People who have many moles allowing the cells in their body more often self-renew. Although there are other consequences such as higher risk of cancer, either skin cancer or other types.
Most people have moles as much as 30-40, but some people also have up to 600 moles. A series of studies which conducted from Kings College and Veronique Bataille, a dermatologist from Hemel Hempstead General Hospital, found a relation between mole with other physical characteristics.
first, Bataille noted, people with many moles would be less susceptible to some effects of skin aging such as wrinkles or stains. Second, people who have a mole over 100 would be less affected by osteoporosis compared with people who have fewer moles. This is based on the results of a recent study involving 1,200 twins, and has presented at the Royal Society of Medicine conference. Concluded, for people who have many moles, then the risk reduction of bone density (because of age) would be less. So they are much less affected by brittle bone disease and fractures. Although the reasons for this relationship is unclear, but the researchers have noticed that people with a lot of moles have different DNA strands in every cell that carries the genetic code.
“Mole is visible product of aging control systems in the body. Therefore, people who have many moles, have a better age,” said Bataille, quoted from BBCNews and detik.com.
In another part is mentioned, people who have many moles maybe feel uncomfortable and usually feel ugly, but in fact there are advantages of having many moles. It is lucky for you because have many moles will make you ageless. It was based on research conducted in English, which shows the mole related with age. In a study done for 10 years to 1800 twins, people who have more than 100 moles will have a biological age 6 to 7 years younger than people who have less than 25 moles. This study has been published in the journal of Cancer Epidemology Biomarkers & Prevention. The researchers estimated the age by telomere length. Telomere is a collection of DNA which found at the ends of chromosomes in all cells and help to protect, replicate and stabilize chromosome ends. Researchers said the telomeres just like plastic on shoelaces tip. These telomeres prevent chromosome ends from tassels and adhere to each other.
Moles usually appear in childhood and disappear when near adult. Moles can vary significantly in number and size. The scientists do not know the reason for this difference, even function of mole itself. “The results of this study is very interesting. Because for the first time shown that people with moles have slightly increased risk of melanoma, and you become ageless,” said Bataille.
Batallie also said, moles have little susceptibility to diseases related with age, such as heart disease and osteoporosis. But further study is needed to confirm these discoveries. Someone with a longer telomere maybe ageless than short telomeres. “We now plan to see more detail in the genes that influence the number of moles and whether the mole was indeed affect the aging process. We will examine the degree of aging in skin, muscle and bone in groups of different people according to their number of moles,” said Tim Spector, coordinator of the study authors.
