Disinfection is the act to clean the wound to avoid infection. This action is performed on an open wound that is dirty. This is the sequence :

Prevention of Tetanus
Tetanus is a disease caused by toxins carried by the germ, Clostridum Tetani. The symptoms of tetanus is, mouth and muscles become stiff and seizures. Sometimes the abdomen becomes very hard like a board. Tetanus period is between five days and sometimes up to four months. Tetanus germs can enter through wounds in the skin. If already infected, patients MUST be treated in hospital.

Because it was feared they would be contaminated with tetanus germs when injured. If you ever get anti-tetanus injections, record the date you got it. This is necessary if one day you get a similar injury, and require anti-tetanus injections.

Indications for anti-tetanus injections are :
- Large wounds.
- Wounds on the neck and face.
- Gunshot wounds that have been accompanied by dead muscle tissue.
- A late injury treatment.
- If there are symptoms of tetanus.
- Puncture wounds or animal bites which deep enough.
Preventive injections are mainly granted to those who have never got an injection of anti-tetanus. For those who have ever been, then they will be given a booster injection (amplifier).
