Dislocation is a joint which out of place. If someone could not close her jaw after opening his/her mouth, it is almost sure the jaw had dislocated. Dislocation that often occurs in athletes is a dislocation in the shoulder, hip and thigh. Because apart from its place, then the organ would be jammed., and will also hurt.
joints that have experienced a dislocation, then the ligament will become lax. Consequently, the joint that could easily have another dislocation. If the dislocation is accompanied by bone fractures, then the treatment becomes difficult and must be taken to the hospital. The sooner the treatment, the better recovery. If you decide to bring the patient to the hospital, Then the splint is mounted on the loose joints.
-DISLOCATED JAW
Jaw joint dislocation occurs because :
- Yawning or laughing too wide.
- Hard punches at the jaw was open.
Sign of dislocated jaw is patients could not close their jaw back.
Aid measures :
Jaw dislocation is usually very easy to fix. Enough with the thumb which pressed into the jaws. But do not forget to wrap your thumb while doing this. Because after being fixed, jaw will be tightened with fast and hard. So, your thumb could be bitten.
How to perform :
Jaw is pressed with the thumb that was bandaged. Thumb is placed at the very back molars. Pressure must be steady but slow. Along with this pressure, your other fingers lift the patient’s chin upwards and backwards. If successful, jaw will be tightened with fast and hard. When finished, the patient should not be opening his mouth too often for a while.
-DISLOCATED FINGER
Joints of the fingers are easy to dislocations. And if not rescued soon, the joints become stiff later. Finger joint dislocation occurs toward the palm or the back of his hand.
Aid measures :
Pull the tip of a finger with a strong enough but not suddenly. While pulling, loose joints are pressed with the thumb and forefinger. If you are do it right, touch and then you will feel that the joint back into place.
If not successful, then there is a possibility of a pinched nerves between the bones that form joints. This can only be done by doctors at the hospital. Similarly, dislocations in the thumb, you should immediately take it to the hospital.
After repaired, splint that finger for a while. To attach the splint, you can use bamboo or wood. Finger splint in the position of a half circle ( as if to form the letter O ).
-DISLOCATED SHOULDER
There are several possible directions of dislocations on an injured shoulder. But most often is dislocated toward the front (ie to the chest). But wherever the direction of dislocation, this will cause paralysis and extreme pain when moving.
Other signs :
- Arms became stiff.
- Elbow slightly pushed away from the axis of the body.
- Tip of the shoulder bone will appear more prominently to the outside.
- The front of the shoulder bone, will appear basin inward.
Aid measures :
Dislocation on the shoulder should be repaired as soon as possible, but calmly and carefully so as not to damage other vital tissues. If your effort does not succeed, you should NOT do it again. I really recommend to take the patient to the hospital immediately, if you are not able to handle it. Especially when combined with a broken bone, it really should be taken to the hospital.
How to perform :
I took a good article about this from http://www.wikihow.com/Fix-a-Dislocated-Shoulder
How to Fix a Dislocated Shoulder?
- Make sure the upper arm is in its resting position, perpendicular to the ground if standing or seated. The patient may have the elbow bent and possibly drawn into the chest, which is also acceptable. Relocation performed by the injured individual is often the most bearable if lying down.
- Bend the elbow at a 90 degree angle. When you feel hurt, do it slowly. Because the reckless movement can damage tissues in the joints.
- Rotate arm and shoulder inward, towards the chest, to make an “L” shape. Use the other arm to help pull, as muscles in the arm with the injured shoulder will be weak and not necessarily function correctly.
- Slowly, but steadily rotate arm and shoulder outward, being sure to keep upper arm stationary. Make a fist in the arm of the injured side. Hold on to this wrist with the other arm and push slowly. When the lower arm is just past 90 degrees to the chest, the shoulder should be coaxed back into the shoulder joint. This will not be a comfortable experience, but do not give in to the pain.
- Repeat this process until the shoulder is relocated. Depending upon the tightness of the shoulder, this process may take a few tries. For repeat dislocations, this will be easier because the shoulder is already loose. If this fails to reset the dislocation, seek medical attention.
- When the shoulder pops back into its joint, relief will come immediately. At this point, gently rotate the arm in the other direction, back towards the chest, then rest.

After the shoulders have been repaired, wear mitella like a broken forearm. Then, in 2-3 days after the repair, do exercises to strengthen the shoulder. And instructions for the exercise, you can see the picture below :
-DISLOCATED HIP
Hip dislocation often occurs in motor vehicle accident. Because knee hit something, the thigh pushed to the back and loose.
The signs are :
- Knee rotates inward.
- Thighs locked approaching the midline of the body.
- Any attempt to move, it will be extremely painful.
Although rare, hip joints can also be slipped into the front. In this case, the knee rotates outwards and can not be moved close to the axis of the body.
Aid measures :
Restoration effort can only be done at the hospital. So, I really recommend to take patients to hospitals. Something you can do is gives bearings around the hips (especially below the knees and feet) when taken to the hospital. This is done to restrict the movements during the trip to the hospital.
