Places which located high above sea level, has a lower oxygen levels than the common places. This condition brings undesirable consequences for the climbers. These conditions will begin to feel at altitude of 2000 meters above sea level. But the emergence of the reactions depends on the endurance and power of each individual.
1. Mountain sickness
The first patient will feel dizzy, headache, fatigue, drowsiness, chills, nausea and vomiting, pallor and shortness of breath. Then, the body will feel hot, nervous, ears ringing, hard to concentrate and hard to sleep.
Aid measures :
Take a rest, the symptoms will disappear within 24-48 hours. But if not working, the patient should be brought back to a lower place. Such incidents can be prevented with a walk, take a rest before climbing, do not be too full to eat, and avoid cigarettes or liquor.
2. Mountain sickness due to lung disorders
Serious disruption usually occurs at an altitude of 3000 meters or more. The symptoms appear 6-36 hours after arriving at the location.
Signs:
Dry cough. Shortness of breath, chest distress. And maybe a cough with blood. Pulse becomes more faster. The patient looked pale and blue, and then fainted.
Aid measures :
Rest the patient’s head is lower than other body parts. Give artificial respiration if necessary. Bring back to a lower place, and send to the hospital.
